and since this is a piece of Cowboy Bebop fanart (aka One Of The Greatest Works of Animation Ever) i figure i should explain the top three reasons why i love the series so much:
1. There is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi in it. I know a lot of series have dogs in them, but most of them are Japanese native or indistinguishable mutts (not that there's anything wrong with that.) But when there's a breed like a Pembroke Welsh Corgi in an anime and actual recognition of the breed in the dialogue...dog-nerds like me get excited.
2. The apparent wet-noodle-like consistency of Ed's limbs.
3. Bad-Assery Thy Name is Spike Spiegel.
Of course there are other things like beautiful animation, a very compelling non-linear plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and an ending that hits you like a mack truck as well. So basically if you haven't seen it, see it. It will change your life.
also, disclaimer whatever, character copyright Sunrise, not me.
augustana - where love went wrong.
OH MY GOD! I LOVE Bebop. Also am planning on getting a corgi and naming him Ein because of this show. Also yes Spike is a definitively bad ass character. I try and think of Spike when creating my characters because I think he had such a great personality balance. Now the art, this is really good. I am envious of your water coloring abilities. I wish I could paint, even a little lol. Anyways keep it up! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D I thought the same thing before I started getting really into watercolors, that I couldn't paint. So you definitely could if you put your mind to it.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of really great characters from a bunch of different series that I love, but Spike is just on a whole other level for me. He is probably the most three-dimensional character I have ever come across in...well, just about anything, haha.
You'll have to let me know when you get around to getting that Corgi! And not to sound like an asshole or anything, but I have to say this: make sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you get one. I work at an animal hospital and I see A LOT of people with types of dogs that just don't work well with their personality/living situation. So just make sure you do your research, Corgis are awesome but they can be pretty intense, haha. (actually any dog can be.) but anyway i'm done with my lecture now lol.
